the whole of 1.5 hectare of the island in the middle of the Pichola Lake.
This palace is a dream of white marble and mosaic glistening in the
moonlight, which is sure to allure every visitor. Set against the backdrop
of the majestic Aravalli Mountains on one side of the lake, and lofty
palaces on the other, this palace was meant as a royal summer palace and now
converted in to a five star palace hotel. It is a magical palace and its
image in the middle of the lake displays the excellent taste of intricate
craftsmanship and the ethnic themes using the textiles and handicrafts that
highlight the simply mesmerizing beauty.
The majestic Lake Palace was built by the 62nd successor to the royal
dynasty of Mewar and was initially called Jaginwas after its founder
Maharana Jagjit Singh. Maharana was very friendly with Mughal Emperor Shah
Jahan and encouraged his craftsmen for building architectures inspired by
incomparable buildings at Agra. The palace has magnificent courtyards, lined
with columns, pillared terraces, fountains and gardens, all add to its
impressive image. Now converted into a hotel, the rooms are decorated with
