Kanha National Park :
Located in the Central India, Kanha is one of India's finest reserves.
Rudyard Kipling's epic, the Jungle Book was inspired by Kanha. One can find
a wide variety of animals in different habitats. The Kanha forest is an
unforgettable experience, with rich vegetation, sprawling grasslands and a
variety of animals just like the National Parks of Africa.
Kanha stretches over 363 sq miles, and provides an enchanting experience
that remains with you for long. Its grand forests have unique birds and
animals that amaze you time and again. Kanha is one of the most well
maintained National Parks in Asia. A major wildlife attraction, Kanha offers
excellent wildlife viewing and photography.
number of tigers at Kanha has increased from 48 to 100, thanks to Project
Tiger which has yielded such a remarkable result, making it the favorite of
Tiger lovers. Rare hard ground Barasingha or Swamp Deer (Cervus durauceli
branderi) are some of the animals found exclusively at the Kanha National
Park.

» By Air - Jabalpur airport is the nearest airport,
about 160 kms away, connected by a daily flight from Delhi. Nagpur, 250 kms
is the other airport for visiting Kanha and is connected to Mumbai and Delhi
by daily flights.
» By Rail - The nearest railway station is Jabalpur
160 kms away. Jabalpur is connected by several daily overnight trains to
Delhi and Agra.
» By Road - Kanha is 275 kms from Bandhavgarh
National Park and 150 kms from Pench National Park.

Kanha has a variety of small and large animals that can be easily spotted.
Kanha has 175 varieties of birds. Thus, making it a heaven for bird
watchers. But the major attraction at Kanha remains the mighty Tiger, the
only thing is that one has to be patient to spot one. While looking for a
Tiger one can easily catch views of all the grazers, like a Porcupine, many
Gray Langurs, Mongoose, Hyena, Jungle Cat, even a Leopard. Other wild
attractions in this land of Tiger include varieties of Deer - the
Barasingha, Chital or Spotted Deer, Chousingha, Nilgai, apart from these one
can also find the majestic Gaur or Indian Bison and wild Pig.
» Plant Species - The varied flora and fauna of
Kanha is not just to see but to experience. There are bamboo forests, Sal
forests and meadows that add to the attraction of this National Park.
» Animal Species - One can see herds of spotted
deer, beautiful Antelope, the Black Buck many more rare species of animals.
If you are lucky enough you may also see timorous Barking Deer. It warns the
other animals that a danger is nearby. You may also come across Rare
Barasingha and the Swamp Deer. At one point of time there were only 66 of
these in Kanha, but careful conservation and management increased their
population to over 400.

National Park, displays attributes and activities of the park and the
vivacious tribal culture of the state of Madhya Pradesh.
