Jag Mandir Palace, a palatial structure made in yellow sandstone and
marble, is a magnificent palace located on the southern island of Lake
Pichola. The Jag mandir Palace holds historical importance, as during the
sepoy mutiny (1857), a number of European families took shelter here from
Neemuch. This palace is a three storeyed structure. For tourists, it is a
marvelous place to spend some beautiful moments. The sunrise and the sunset
view from this island is simply captivating.
The Gul Mahal is the prime attraction of this island, built in Islamic
style, it is the place where Khurram stayed. A mosque was also constructed
to enable the royal guest to offer his prayers. Another major attraction of
this palace is the eight life size white marble elephants that face towards
the Lake Palace. Bara Patharon ka Mahal built of twelve solid marble slabs,
Kunwar Pada ka Mahal are other places within the palace that are a must see
for all tourists. There is also the Darikhana Restaurant, opened by Arvind
Singh Mewar in the year 2001 to host lavish parties. The Zenana Mahal is
provided with many chambers for the royal ladies. Its rooms face the
beautiful view of the lake with its placid waters.
The best mode to be enchanted by the beauty of this palace is by a boat
ride. The boats are decorated with lights in a procession give an enchanting
ride to the royal settings of Jag Mandir providing the guests a reason to
cherish the memories of their visit to the place.
