Nagaland is a vibrant hill state Located in the extreme North Eastern End
of India, bounded by Myanmar in the East; Assam in the West; Arunachal
Pradesh and a part of Assam in the North with Manipur in the south.It offers
rich incomparable traditional and cultural heritage.
About Horn Bill Festival
The tribes of Nagaland celebrate their festivals with gusto
and fervor. More than 60% of the population of Nagaland depends on
agriculture and therefore most of their festivals revolve round agriculture.
They consider their festivals sacred and so participation in these festivals
Nagaland is known as the land of festivals as each tribe celebrates its own
festival with dedication and passion. Some of the important festivals
celebrated are: Tsukhenyie by the Chakhesangs in January, Mimkut by the
Kukis in January, Bushu by the Kacharis in January, Sekrenyi by the Angamis
in February, Aoling by the Konyaks in April, Moatsu by the Aos in May,
Tuluni by the Sumis in July, Nyaknylum by the Changs in July, Tokhu
Emong by the Lothas in November and Yemshe by the Pochurys in October.
To encourage inter-tribal interaction and to promote cultural heritage of
Nagaland, the Government of Nagaland organizes the Hornbill Festival every
year in the first week of December.
Hornbill Festival is held at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama which is about
12 km from Kohima. All the tribes of Nagaland take part in this festival.
The aim of the festival is to revive and protect the rich culture of
Nagaland and display its extravaganza and traditions.
For visitors it means a closer understanding of the people and culture of
Nagaland. It must be included in your itinerary, if you are visiting

The Festival is named after the hornbill, the globally respected bird and
which is displayed in folklore in most of the states tribes. The week
long festival unites one and all in Nagaland and people enjoy the colourful
performances, crafts, sports, food fairs, games and ceremonies. Traditional
arts which include paintings, wood carvings, and sculptures are also on
display. Festival highlights include Traditional Naga Morungs Exhibition and
sale of Arts and Crafts, Food Stalls, Herbal Medicine Stalls, Flower shows
and sales, Cultural Medley - songs and dances, Fashion shows, Beauty

Day 1 - Arrive Kolkata
Today arrival at International airport; on arrival meet and assist by
NAMASTE TOURS representative holding a placard at arrival lounge. Transfer
to the hotel and check-in.
Calcutta - Indias largest city is the capital of West Bengal and was
founded by the remarkable English merchant trader Job Charnock in 1690.
Overnight in Kolkata.
Day 2 - Kolkata
breakfast City tour of Calcutta visiting the Victoria Memorial built by Lord
Curzon as a marble memorial to Queen Victoria in 1905 houses the memorabilia
of the early days of the British Raj. Visit the National Museum which houses
the various art treasures of the land and the temple dedicated to Kali, the
demonic attribute of Parvathi at Kalighat. Drive past by Fort William, the
Eden Gardens, the Dalhousie Square and the Writers Building. Also visit the
e Missionaries of Charity, the home of Late Mother Teresa.

Day 3 - Kolkata / Jorahat
Today morning you will transfer to airport and board the flight for

Arrive at Jorhat airport, after a brief welcome you will be escorted to
hotel, evening at leisure. Overnight at Leisure.
Day 4 - Jorhat Mokokchung
breakfast we drive to Mokokchung (105 kms / 4 hrs approx) located at an
altitude of 1325 meters above sea level, this picturesque town is the
cultural center of the Ao tribes. The Ao Nagas is famous for their colourful
dances. Evening visit Ungma village - the biggest Ao. Overnight at
Day 5 - Mokokchung Touphema
After breakfast, drive to Tuophema village (167 kms / 05 hrs) in
this village Sekrenyi festival is celebrated during the month of February.
Evening cultural show at guest house. Over night at Tuophema village.
Day 6 - Touphema Kohima
After breakfast we proceed to Kohima the capital of Nagaland (40 kms
/ 02 hrs), to attain the opening ceremony of Hornbill festival.
Horn Bill Festival
Horn Bill Festival of Nagaland represents the Bcultural extravaganza of the
northeast Indian state. The Nagaland festival provides tourists the
opportunity to glimpse of the festive celebrations of the state. The
festival starts in the first week of December every year and it continues
for a week. Nagaland is the land of festivals with one festival following
the other all through the year.

Full day attain Hornbill Festival. Overnight at Kohima.
Day 8 - Kohima
Full day attain Hornbill festival. Overnight at Kohima.
Day 9 - KohimaKaziranga National Park
After breakfast drive to Kaziranga National Park ( 217 KMS / 07 HRS).
Kaziranga National Park:
the heart of Assam, covering an area of 430 sq-kms, is inhabited by the
world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses, as well as many
mammals, including tigers (sighting of tigers are difficult), elephants, hog
& swamp deer, water buffaloes and almost 478 species of birds (both
migratory and residents). In 1985, it was declared a World Heritage Site by
UNESCO for its unique natural environment.
Evening free at leisure. Overnight at Kaziranga.
Day 10 - Kaziranga National Park
After an early wake up, you will be taken to the riding point in the
Central Range (Kohoro) for an Elephant Ride. After the ride return back to
the lodge, having breakfast at 7 am drive to the Central Rang (Kohora) of
the park for a jeep safari. After lunch at 2.15 there will be another Jeep
safari in the Western Range (Baguri) of the park. Evening at leisure.
Overnight at Kaziranga.
Day 11 - Kaziranga National Park Guwahati Kolkata
After breakfast drive to Guwahati airport to connect the flight for Kolkata
in order to take flight for onward destination.
