Nahargarh Fort is the first of the three forts built by Maharaja Jai Sawai
Singh of Jaipur. The term "Nahargarh" refers to "the Abode of
Tigers", so it is also known as the Tiger Fort. Constructed in 1734,
the Fort is situated at the top of rugged point of the Aravalis and offers a
spectacular view of the City. The fort was built to serve as a support to
the security of Amer. However, much of the original fort now ruins except
the walls and the 19th century additions including the rooms furnished for
the Maharajas. The fort depicts the rich culture and the glorious age of the
chivalrous Rajas and Maharajas of the city.
Numerous buildings like Nahargarh Fort, Madhavendra Bhawan and few others
are situated inside the palace. With a series of interconnected rooms,
corridors and hallways, this fort was used as a picnic spot for the Royal
family. Another major attraction of the Nahargarh Fort, is the magnificent
view of the Man Sagar Lake, in the middle of which Jai Singh II had built a
palatial duck blind for his shooting parties.
The geometrically designed Nahargarh Fort looks amazing in the night, when
it is dazzlingly lit. Though the older parts of the Nahargarh Fort are
wrecked now, but the further additions to the Fort, are well-preserved.
Nahargarh Fort stands as a symbol of the Royal heritage and speaks of its
majestic past. A visit to this fort will definitely make your trip, a
memorable one.

Rail : Well connected with places like Delhi, Agra, Udaipur etc.,

Road : You can reach Amber Fort either by taking local buses from
the city or by hiring Taxis.
